In November-December, 1999, Seattle hosted the World Trade Organization
meetings. It was brought to Seattle, because the host committee and corporate
ruling elite speculated that as such a trade-dependant city, Seattle would be
the perfect location for them. We showed them it was the perfect location for
the beginning of a massive fightback against capitalist globalization.
"Remember Seattle!" is now a rallying cry for activists fighting for labor rights,
human rights, environmental protection, food safety and a whole host of other
issues. We honor the memory of N30, 1999 in Seattle by creating this page.
On April 20th-22nd, the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) will
be meeting in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Like other trade agreements
such as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the World
Trade Organization (WTO), this agreement is being meted out by an
un-elected group of bureaucrats. We only need to look at the anti-democratic
nature of NAFTA and the WTO to theorize what sort of agreement the FTAA
will be. This page was created to educate, agitate and organize around this
anti-people agreement.
We encourage everyone to find out as much as they can
about FTAA, NAFTA and the WTO.
